WHO AM I?

I’m a Philadelphia-based researcher, data scientist, and writer whose published work spans philosophy, psychology, bioethics, and public health. My peer-reviewed research has been published in prestigious journals ranging from Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences to Hypatia: A Journal of Feminist Philosophy, and my writing for a broader audience has been published in Slate, The American Prospect, and The Philadelphia Inquirer.

I run a data science and research consultancy called Principled Research LLC, and am writing a book about mathematical deceptions and quantitative propaganda called B(u)y the Numbers.

THE RHETORIC OF SCIENCE [PDF]

How do scientists, corporations, and the media use language and argument to persuade people that a certain claims are ‘scientific,’ and what exactly does that mean? How can we become more critical recipients and more effective communicators of scientific knowledge?
